Dodge Balls for Pantano High School Sponsored by Anchor Wave Digital Marketing

Pantano High School is a credit recovery school in the Vail School District. Our students have not found success in traditional schools for a variety of reasons. At Pantano, these students find a home and a family. Due to the alternative nature of our program, we do not have funding for athletic programs. We have a math/science teacher, Scott Hagen, who leads students in athletics during non-class time. However, we are limited in the supply and variety of sports equipment we have, and what we do have is pretty old and bedraggled. Recently Scott has applied for a grant from the Vail School District Foundation to cover some essential supplies, but we would also like to get a grant to purchase dodge balls, which are incredibly expensive.

Dodge balls will help all of our students, as this is a game that can be played during organized sports time or as an activity during spirit week, for example. Anybody with any skill level can play dodge ball.

Along with meeting the academic and emotional needs of our students, we also need to address physical education. Sports provide an outlet for students get regulate their emotions, build team work skills, and improve conflict resolution. These social-emotional skills can't always be acquired in an academic setting. Sports allows their development naturally. Having access to a wide variety of equipment allow for different skills development opportunities.
